Of course, you need to make sure that the companies that you are asking for estimates are reputable. Look online for reviews from customers and do research about what should be completed during the estimate. No company should only give you an estimate over the phone.

So should you go through the process of requesting an estimate? Here are a few instances where the answer is “yes.”

• Is your heating and cooling system over 10 years old? If so, it might be time to schedule a free in-home estimate. Even if you’re not currently experiencing problems with your system, your system is outdated. Systems that were made more than 10 years ago are not built as energy efficient as ones that are installed today. By switching to a newer, more energy efficient system you can save money on your energy bills.
• Does your system need repair after repair? If so, it might be time to schedule a free in-home estimate. Repairs can be costly, especially when you have to have them regularly. Instead of paying for repairs, why not put that money towards a new system? Sometimes the cost of several repairs can be comparable to the cost of a new system. With older systems, sometimes it can be very difficult to find parts; if they are hard to come by it usually means they will be costly. If you’re getting quoted for an expensive repair, it is worth your while to also schedule a free in-home estimate to compare not only the price, but the benefits.
• Do you not have a heating and cooling system in your home?
