What to Expect During A Free In-Home Estimate

Sponsored Content provided by Jimmy Williams - Owner, O’Brien Service Company

Is your heating and air system on its last legs? If you’re considering replacing your current heating and cooling system, make sure you have a quality company provide you an estimate. There are several factors that should be taken into account when having an estimate done. Here are the major components to expect during a free in-home estimate:

  • There are many important measurements and factors that need to be addressed while having your in-home estimate done. You should expect during a free in-home estimate that a comfort consultant will enter your home. This is because measurements will be needed to determine the proper system for your home. Since it is impossible to do a measurement of your home over the phone, make sure that the estimate is done in your home! Besides just having the proper measurements done, the comfort consultant will take a look at your existing system, your current ductwork, and many other features that can only be seen while inside your home. Some of the most important data that is collected will come from having a load calculation done.
  • A load calculation will determine what size system your home will need. This can only be performed if the comfort consultant has visited your home. The size of the system is determined by how much heating and cooling your home needs. The size of your home is a big factor in this calculation, but there are other influences as well. A load calculation is required when installing a new system, so no matter which company you use, make sure this is done. It the wrong-size system installed, many problems can result and your system will not be able to keep your home as comfortable as a properly sized system can. A load calculation is something you should expect during a free in-home estimate. If a company does not perform one, you might want to get in contact with another company.
  • While you have a comfort specialist in your home, be prepared to discuss any issues you’re experiencing with your current system. For example, let the specialist know if certain rooms do not heat or cool as well as others. Our comfort consultants will be able to offer a few options for new systems that will work for your home. If you’re on a budget, the comfort consultants can explain financing options that may be available. At O’Brien, we can also determine how much credit you are approved for. The products that we offer are top of the line; while they may not always be the cheapest, they are the best quality.
  • If you have a company other than O’Brien give you an estimate for a new heating and air system, make sure it is offering the correct system for your home. If you feel that the estimate was not well presented, it wouldn’t hurt to have another estimate from our company. After all, it’s free! Everything listed above is what you should expect during a free in-home estimate, and O’Brien Service Company will be sure to find the best system for your home.
