Leaders of a local committee that deals with rural transportation issues will hold another term.

The Cape Fear Rural Transportation Planning Organization (RPO) Rural Transportation Advisory Committee (RTAC) unanimously re-elected Brunswick County commissioner Frank Williams as chairman and Whiteville mayor Terry Mann (below) as vice chairman of the Rural Transportation Advisory Committee.

The Cape Fear RPO serves as a connection for local elected officials, the N.C. Department of Transportation and residents in the regions to address rural transportation issues. The RTAC oversees Brunswick, Columbus and Pender counties.

“Serving as RTAC Chair for the past two years has underscored the importance of having a strong voice for rural transportation in southeastern North Carolina. I look forward to continuing to work with Vice Chairman Mann, the other members of the committee, staff, elected leaders in the communities we represent and the NCDOT to ensure that our rural transportation needs and priorities are heard,” Williams said in the release.
