Young Wilmington Companies Among Finalists For Statewide Tech Awards

By Jenny Callison, posted Oct 1, 2015
Six Wilmington area companies are among the finalists and honorees for the N.C. Tech Awards, which will be announced Nov. 12 by the presenting organization, N.C. Technology Association.

According to Raleigh-based N.C. Technology Association (NCTA), its Tech Awards is the state's largest awards program, recognizing the tech sector's “extraordinary achievements.”

There are three categories of awards, according to NCTA's website: technology corporate awards (recognizing organizations providing tech solutions), use of technology awards (recognizing organizations that have used technology to improve themselves) and individual awards (recognizing executives that have led technology innovations).

In the technology corporate awards, Wilmington-based nCino, which designs and produces banking software, is among five finalists in the Software Company category. Brothers George and Kurt Taylor, founders of affinity match software startup Likeli and wine and beer preference profile company Next Glass, respectively, are among five competitors in the Best Consumer Web Company category.

Two local early-stage companies – Koolbridge Solar and Surgilum – are among NCTA’s Top Ten Startups to Watch.

Vying for Use of Technology awards, Koolbridge Solar is one of five finalists in the Energy and the Environment category, while DocsInk is a finalist in the Health and Wellness category.

Pierre Naudé, CEO of nCino, is one of the finalists for the Tech Exec individual award, given yearly to an executive who has led technology innovations.
