The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina recently announced the appointment of seven new members to its board of directors.
"Tony Elkins, Theresa Everett, Patrice Faison, Wilson Greene, Kelvin Hargrove, Heidi Milliken and Linda Smith bring a wealth of expertise, leadership, and passion to the organization, enhancing its ability to fulfill its mission of empowering youth and strengthening communities," according to a news release.
Elkins brings over 35 years of expertise in transportation development and alternative financing to his role as Vice President at Meridiam Infrastructure.
"With past leadership positions at firms like WSP and Cintra, Tony has been instrumental in the procurement of multibillion-dollar transportation projects and public-private partnerships. His experience spans a range of high-profile initiatives, including the Texas High-Speed Rail and LA Metro’s Sepulveda Transit Corridor," the release stated. "With an MBA in Finance and International Business from New York University, Tony's strategic insights and leadership will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of our clubs."
Everett is "a seasoned leader with an impressive background in federal service. With over 36 years of experience, she held senior staff and executive leadership positions, demonstrating proficiency in Human Resources, Program Management, Procurement, and Logistics. Theresa previously served on the board of directors for Community Boys & Girls Clubs of Wilmington," according to the release.
Faison is chief academic officer at New Hanover County Schools.
"With a Doctor of Education degree from UNC Greensboro and recognition as the NC Principal of the Year in 2012, Patrice has a proven track record of transforming schools and driving academic excellence," the release stated.
Greene, a business owner and real estate developer, previously served on the board for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Albemarle, according to the release.
"With a commitment to driving innovation and growth, Wilson's expertise will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of the Boys & Girls Clubs," the release stated.
Hargrove, Deputy Chief for the City of Wilmington Police Department, brings a unique perspective on community engagement and youth development. With nearly 30 years of experience in law enforcement, Deputy Chief Hargrove has served in various capacities, including patrol, SWAT, and Vice and Narcotics.
Milliken is an account operations manager at MegaCorp Logistics.
"Heidi's professional journey reflects her commitment to excellence and service. Her passion for volunteering shines through her involvement with various organizations, including ACCESS - Miracle League, Meals on Wheels, Night to Shine and the American Heart Association, among others," the release stated. "Recognized as the Volunteer of the Year at MegaCorp Logistics, Heidi's leadership and enthusiasm make her an immediate asset to the Boys & Girls Clubs."
Smith has served as an advocate for affordable housing and workforce development for over two decades, according to the release.
"With a career that spans roles as the retired Director of AMEZ Housing Community Development Organization and the owner and CEO of Gone Again Travel Team, Linda's commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening communities is unparalleled," the release stated. "Linda has extensive involvement in organizations such as the New Hanover County Affordable Housing Coalition, the 13th Street House for Women and the local Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors."
