Southport-Oak Island Chamber Announces Spring 2026 Golden Pineapple Award Winners

The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced the winners of the Spring 2026 Golden Pineapple Awards. 

The chamber awarded 38 local businesses a Golden Pineapple Award at a ceremony held at the chamber. The winners are:
  • Accommodations: Beach House Motel Inn & Suites, Better Beach Rentals & Sales, Southport’s Canary Cottage (River Road Funding), Margaret Rudd & Associates, Inc., REALTORS, and Oak Island Accommodations
  • Activities & Attractions: 5 More Minutes Charters, Cape Fear Fitness, Jazzercise Southport, and Yoga Unlimited
  • Food & Beverage: Bald Head Coffee & Tea House, Big Pups Coffee Company, and Burrito Shak Southport 
  • Nonprofit Organizations: Generations Church and Up Your Arts  
  • Retail: Doodles Market & Convenience, Dunes Mercantile Gifts & Guitars, Party Time, Salty Olive, and The Apothecary at St. James  
  • Professional: Dosher Memorial Hospital, Coastline Insurance Associates of NC, Inc., FinPoint Insurance, Hamilton Realty Group eXp Realty, Live Oak Med Spa, Margaret Rudd & Associates Inc. Realtors, Southern Realty Advantage, The Apothecary at St. James and Trust Mortgage Future Home Loans/Wally Simpson

Golden Pineapple Awards are given quarterly to chamber member businesses nominated by their customers "for providing consistent and exceptional customer service," according to a news release. "The pineapple is the international symbol of hospitality, which is the reason the chamber chose it for the award."

Karen Sphar, executive vice president of the chamber, stated in the release, “Exceptional customer service isn’t just a department – it’s the heartbeat of every successful business. It turns transactions into relationships and customers into advocates. The businesses recognized through the Golden Pineapple Awards help create a stronger, more connected community by making customers feel valued, welcomed and appreciated every day.”

Nominations for the next quarter will be taken until July 31, according to the release.
