At Common Desk, Ellis said he spends his week making workdays better, that includes building community, cultivating culture, dialing in espresso, leasing offices and managing the flexible coworking space in downtown Wilmington.
 
“My schedule, documents, spreadsheets and notes are all in Google Workspace. If it’s not in my Google Calendar, it’s not happening,” Ellis said.
 
He depends on Slack to collaborate and keep him connected to the other 20 Common Desk locations in Texas.
 
For news and entertainment, he spends time on Audible and Pocket Casts.
 
Ellis gets his news online and skims local news every couple of days including WECT, StarNews, Greater Wilmington Business Journal and WHQR.
 
His favorite podcasts include Throughline for its deep dive into the history of cultural issues; In the Shift for thinking about and processing faith; The Daily for news and current events and The Memory Palace, “Short historical narrative engages my creative side. It’s a fun brain break.
 
Dare to Lead” by Brené Brown and “Born a Crime” by Trevor Noah are some books that he recommends.
 
Ellis’ recent favorite movies include Guardians of the Galaxy and The Hate U Give and for shows, the Sherlock TV series.
 
Social media accounts he enjoys following include @trucolorsbrew, @genesisblockilm, @vigilanthoperoasting, @commondesk @whatsupwilmington.
