Owners of Bill’s Front Porch Pub and Brewery say that now that construction is underway on their new brewing facility, they are shifting the structure of the pub’s restaurant in order to focus mainly on Bill’s Brewing Co.

“Beer has always been our main focus so we’re going to create more of a taproom-type setting rather than a full-service restaurant,” said co-founder Brookes Musser. “We will still serve food, but with a more limited menu, and customers will order from the bar and have their food delivered to their table.”

Musser said several favorite menu items such as the soft pretzels, fried green tomatoes, wings and skillets will still be available. And Thursday nights will feature the Musser family’s famous fried chicken plates. Musser said Bill’s food truck will also still remain in service for local events.

Brunch service will continue Sundays, with the taproom opening an hour early at 10 a.m., and serving until 3 p.m. Popular brunch items include the fried chicken plate, chicken and waffles, huevos rancheros and empanadas.

Bill’s new production facility, at 107 Cinema Drive, is expected to be up and running by the start of 2020. Musser said the current brewing equipment will be used for experimental brews, collaborations and small batches.

Bill’s Brewing Co. recently took home three medals from the Summertime Brews Festival in Greensboro. The company received a gold medal for Wave Break American IPA, a silver for Dog Haze of Summer New England IPA and a bronze for its Merganser Schwartzbier.

“Awards such as these encourage us that we’re doing some really good stuff with beer,” Musser said. “The Wilmington beer scene is growing so rapidly that we really want to make sure we remain relevant.”

Bill’s Front Porch Pub and Brewery is located at 4238 Market St. in Wilmington.
