Several Wilmington-based technology companies won Core Innovation awards at the annual NC TECH Awards ceremony in Raleigh on Tuesday night.
The event was held at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley due to a recent fire at the Raleigh Convention Center, with over 700 representatives from the technology, business, education and government sectors in attendance.
Overall, seven technology companies based in Wilmington were nominated for awards, and five Wilmington-based companies took home honors.
Predicate AI Labs Inc., a health tech company that recently partnered with Mayo Clinic to advance early detection of sepsis, won the Best AI, Machine Learning and Data Innovation award. Another Wilmington-based tech company, OpiAID, won the same award in 2023.
In the Best Biotech and HealthTech Innovation category, Ocean Isle Beach-based company Artemis Immersive was awarded for its software that creates 3D digital renderings of medical scans for medical training. Last year, Artemis Immersive was one of 10 companies to win a Top Tech Startups to Watch award.
Athian, a cloud-based software company focused on environmental sustainability in the livestock industry, won the award for Best Sustainable Tech Innovation.
Additionally, CareHome Health Solutions, an innovative medication management company, and Skillmaker.ai, a Carolina Beach-based, AI-driven extended reality (XR) company, won Top Tech Startups to Watch awards.
Nuream, a biotech company specializing in sleep technology, and Ohanafy, a beverage supply chain software company, were nominated for the Biotech and HealthTech Innovation Award and the Software Solutions Company Award, respectively.
