A 2.5-acre Market Street site is being eyed for the potential construction of a AAA Car Care Center in the Ogden area.

The proposal is for the site currently occupied by Lloyd’s Nursery, a business off Market Street between Oak Ridge Lane and Greenview Drive, and would require a rezoning, according to the Oct. 11 agenda of the New Hanover County Technical Review Committee.

The commercial conceptual plan submitted to the county for technical review is proposed to be rezoned in the near future. According to the TRC agenda, the site has been used as a nursery under the Business District/Conditional Use District (B-1 CUD) zoning designation.

Lloyd’s Nursery has occupied the property for about 20 years and is listed for sale, said Lisa Brinkley, nursery manager and wife of nursery owner Lloyd Brinkley.

“It’s too early to tell yet if that sale is going to go through or not,” Brinkley said, adding that the business would move but is not closing.

A conceptual site plan for the AAA Care Center shows a 7,300-square-foot car care center with a car wash and parking lot. Vehicle access is proposed from both Oak Ridge Lane and Greenview Drive. The property is located near the 7500 block of Market Street, according to the TRC agenda.

AAA Carolinas currently has car care centers on Oleander Drive and Military Cutoff Road.
