The 28,000-square-foot store left empty at Mayfaire Town Center after electronics chain hhgregg filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March will soon be home to a temporary tenant.

Halloween City is expected to open in the space in early September, said Paige Somervell, spokeswoman for the shopping center. Halloween City, which bills itself as "your costume superstore," sells costumes and Halloween supplies. Efforts to reach a Halloween City representative were not immediately successful Thursday.

The Mayfaire store, which will be at 830 Inspiration Drive, is listed on the company's website as a "Coming Soon" location.

Two years ago, Halloween & More opened a store at Mayfaire Town Center in the former Coldwater Creek space, what is now clothing and accessory boutique Altar'd State.

Lease-up in new space that has been added to Mayfaire Town Center in recent months has been going well, said Stephen Lebovitz, CEO of the company that owns the center, CBL & Associates Properties.

He said the opening of international clothing retailer H&M there in February was "definitely one of the strongest" openings of an H&M for CBL, which has about 35 H&M stores at its centers and malls across the U.S.

In addition to attracting tenants to the new space at Mayfaire Town Center, CBL has also been working on permanently filling the hhgregg site.

"We’re trying to come up with a use that’ll bring something different to the center," Lebovitz said.
