The Wilmington Fire Department recently announced the official opening of Fire Station 6 on River Road.

According to a news release, the station is "a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance emergency response and public safety for the growing Riverlights community and surrounding areas along the Cape Fear River."

The department’s 10th fire station, Station 6 is home to an engine company staffed by four firefighters.
 
"Blending seamlessly into the architectural charm of the coastal South, Fire Station 6 reflects the unique character of Riverlights while offering modern amenities to support the health and readiness of its crew," the release stated. "The station features a fully equipped dine-in kitchen, dormitories, a comfortable lounge and dedicated fitness and training rooms for firefighters."
