When Alex Turner and his son started playing with Lego bricks together last year, the 3-year-old got a little frustrated.

“He goes like, ‘I can't do it, Daddy. I can’t do this.’ And I said, ‘Yes, you can; you can do anything you want with Legos,’” Turner said.

Turner and Scott Saxton own the Wilmington franchise of Bricks & Minifigs, a chain that serves
as an authorized reseller of Lego minifigures, sets, bricks and accessories.

Display sets at the Wilmington store, located at 1305 Floral Parkway, include the character Charmander, a reptilian Pokémon. With some help from Saxton, it took Turner about a week and a half to build Charmander.

The grand opening of the local store took place March 28.

“It was something that the area just didn’t have,” Turner said, “somewhere for people to congregate and do something simple, like build Legos without being charged an arm and a leg.”
