Local Restaurants Offer Special Festival Food

Several downtown restaurants will offer specials and live music in honor of Riverfest this weekend. The three-day festival which began in 1979 includes many events, from the 8K Run the River Race and the Stand Up Paddle Race on the Cape Fear to art exhibits, an antique car show, live music and fireworks.

Buzz’s Roost will be featuring a new lunch menu with 12 items for $6.99 each. Sample dishes include Fish and Chips, Chicken Tenders and BBQ Sliders. The eatery will also be serving its Buzz-A-Rita Margaritas for $3.00.

The Reel Café will celebrate with its TGIF beer specials on Friday: $2.75 Michelob Ultra and $3.25 Stella Artois bottles. The café will run food specials throughout the weekend as well. Sunday brings Funday Sunday with live music all day on the patio, brunch and $4 mimosas and Bloody Marys.

The George on the Riverwalk will debut several new vegan and gluten-free items, including a black bean and tofu salad, chips and salsa, a hummus trio and desserts such as strawberry-melon and mixed berry sorbet.

The Pilot House will offer $5 appetizers from 4-6pm as well as drink specials TBA.

Hell’s Kitchen will offer several wing combos: six wings and a pint of beer for $7.99, 12 wings and two pints of beer for $12.99 and 18 wings and a pitcher of beer for $17.99.

Paddy’s Hollow will feature BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and Shepard’s Pie each for $8.99 as well as $3 pints on Friday, $5 mimosas on Saturday and $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys on Sunday.
