Wilmington-based Intracoastal Angler has plans to grow with two new locations in Hampstead.

The expansion “marks a significant milestone” for the long-time fishing gear and tackle shop, according to a news release Tuesday announcing the new stores. Intracoastal Angler currently serves the Wilmington area at its store on Oleander Drive, offering everything from rods and reels to bait, sunglasses, fishing tackle and branded apparel.

“We carry a little bit of everything,” Jackson David, owner of Intracoastal Angler, told the Business Journal last year. “We’ve got over 20,000 SKUs of items in the shop.”

The new Hampstead stores are expected to provide the same array of merchandise and fishing expertise. The first Hampstead store is planned for Sloop Point Marina at 579 Lewis Road, according to the news release.

"We are thrilled to be opening a waterfront location at Sloop Point Marina in Hampstead," David wrote in the news release. "We have been serving the Wilmington community for over 25 years, and are excited to expand our reach and bring our expertise and customer service to the Hampstead area.”

The new location will host fishing tournaments and other events and aims to become the “one-stop shop for all things fishing in Hampstead,” the release stated.

The store’s addition is a plus for Sloop Point Marina, according to marina owner Jason Ruegg.

“Having a premium tackle shop like Intracoastal Angler as part of the marina is one more way we can attract great customers,” he wrote in the release. “We have future expansion plans and want to offer every amenity we possibly can to our members to make Sloop Point their top choice for storing their boat.”

The Sloop Point Marina location will be open seven days a week. From Monday through Saturday, the store will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday hours are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The location is set to be the first of two new Hampstead stores. Intracoastal Angler expects to break ground on the second location later this year, according to the release.

Additional information about the location of the second Hampstead store was not available, as of press time.
