Site plans have been submitted to the city for a mixed-use project with 276 apartments and commercial space on riverfront property in northern downtown Wilmington.
The plans show studio, one and two
-bedroom apartments in two, seven-story buildings that could be connected by a pedestrian bridge. Together, the buildings are expected to total more than 321,000 square feet, not including a planned parking deck, which would have 577 spaces, according to the plans.
Kettler, a Virginia-based firm that specializes in mixed-use apartment developments,
bought the property where the apartments are planned, at 19 and 41 Harnett St., this summer.
The parcel at 19 Harnett St. has been serving as the paved parking lot where diners park for Marina Grill.
According to the plans, one of the buildings, partly situated along the Northeast Cape Fear River, would house 203 units. The second building would have 73 units and the parking deck.
Both buildings
(shown in a south elevation below) are expected to include retail space. The plans show that the largest building is slated to have 18,793 square feet of retail space, with 2,770 square feet in the smaller structure.
Renderings included in the plan submission show a "Harnett Cafe" and "Nutt Street Bistro."
Some amenities planned at the apartment complex include a courtyard, green space, bike and kayak storage, dog wash area and a fitness center.
The documents show that the project site is also adjacent to the land where the city of Wilmington plans to build Northern Riverfront Park.
The plans, which were posted on the city of Wilmington's project tracking website Wednesday, are labeled, "Kettler Wilmington Waterfront." They are scheduled to be discussed by the city's Technical Review Committee on Sept. 26, according to the project tracking site.
Kettler
also owns St. Andrews Reserve at 814 St. Andrews Drive in midtown Wilmington.
