Downtown Bar's Move Might Mean More Office Space

By Cece Nunn, posted Nov 4, 2016
A bar and night club on Front Street is moving to a different downtown location.

Goodfellas Nite Life, which occupied the second and third floors at 1 S. Front St., is moving to 122 Princess St. after being unable to renew its Front Street lease, according to a post on the bar’s Facebook page.

“It is bitter sweet for us to announce that Goodfellas is moving at the end of November! After 12 years in our current location, we were unable to renew our lease because a developer has new plans for our building,” the Facebook post says. “However, we're THRILLED to announce that we found an amazing new space only a block away at 122 Princess St. (right next to Hell's Kitchen). We can't wait for you to start the party up in our new location. Stay tuned for sneak peek pics and join us for our Grand Opening on Friday, Dec. 2.”

The owner of 1 S. Front St, James Goodnight, said the space formerly occupied by Goodfellas Nite Life will be home to a less intensive use in the future, likely offices, after it’s listed for lease again. Each of the historic building’s three floors contains nearly 3,500 square feet.

The structure at the corner of Front and Market streets is also home to two other bars, The Whiskey and The River Rat. The building was renovated in the mid-1980s and has not been well maintained since then, Goodnight said. The space Goodfellas is vacating requires repairs that “would have been impossible with a tenant in place,” he said.

The new location for Goodfellas used to be home to Bottega Art & Wine, which closed Oct. 1, said Christian Cardamone, a broker with Coastal Properties.

Cardamone represented Goodfellas in the lease of the former Bottega space and the basement at 122 Princess St. Jim Rolquin of RE/MAX Essential represented the owner, TBD Capital LLC.
