A development company has submitted site plans for a 9,100-square-foot Dollar General store at the corner of Dawson and Fifth streets in Wilmington.

Par 5 Development LLC of Aberdeen recently submitted the plans for the 406 Dawson St. site to the city of Wilmington. The city's project tracking website says the plans are expected to be reviewed by Wilmington's Technical Review Committee at its Aug. 10 meeting.

The property is zoned Urban Mixed Use (UMX), according to the submitted documents, including drawings by engineering firm Norris & Tunstall. The project includes 19 parking spaces, the plans say.

Requests for more details on the proposed Dollar General store were referred by Par 5 Development to Dollar General's public relations department, which did not immediately respond.

Par 5 is a commercial real estate development and management company founded in 2008 that has been a preferred developer for Dollar General since 2009, according to the firm's website. The website says the company specializes in single-tenant, triple-net lease retail projects and has also developed for Advance Auto Parts, Dunkin’ Donuts, Brixx Pizza and PetSuites of America.

"We have built and developed over 100 Dollar General stores in Virginia and North Carolina since the start of our relationship with the general merchandise retailer," the website says.

There are at least 10 existing Dollar General stores in Wilmington and Leland, according to an online store locator map. A new Dollar General is also in the works at Carolina Beach.
