Surgeon Philip Brown joined Wilmington Health as the new president of its board of directors, according to a news release.

The medical organization also recently announced that ear, nose and throat specialist Greg Zwack and hospitalist David Schultz have joined the board.

Brown currently serves as the co-director of the N.C. Medical Society Foundation’s Kanof Institute for Physician Leadership.

“We are honored to bring Dr. Brown to the Wilmington Health Board of Directors as President. He provides leadership that promotes the quality of our providers in Wilmington locally and across the state,” Wilmington Health CEO Jeff James said in a statement.

Brown was formerly the president of the New Hanover-Pender County Medical Society. He also assisted in the founding of the first office-based Endovascular Intervention Center in southeastern North Carolina, according to the release.

Zwack graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.

Schultz, a graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine, did his residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

“Schultz was among the first physicians to work as a hospitalist in the region and has been specializing in hospital medicine for almost 15 years,” the release stated.
