Publicly Traded Firm Acquires OpinionLab

By Cece Nunn, posted Nov 16, 2016
A publicly traded company has purchased OpinionLab, a firm with a growing office in Wilmington that collects and processes customer feedback.

Officials with Verint Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: VRNT), based in Melville, New York, announced Wednesday that the company has extended its Customer Engagement Optimization portfolio through its acquisition for an undisclosed amount of OpinionLab, according to a news release.

OpinionLab, which is headquartered in Chicago and has a total of two offices, will retain its name but add, "A Verint Company." The Wilmington office includes more than 30 employees and will also remain in place.

The local office was moved to 301 Government Center Drive from its previous Port City address within the past year to accommodate future expansion, said Tim Whiting, vice president of marketing for OpinionLab, which opened its Wilmington office about five years ago.

Whiting said OpinionLab officials are excited about joining with Verint “because what this gives us is resources to grow. We’ve been on a pretty good growth trajectory, and this is going to help us accelerate that.”

Services offered by OpinionLab, including Voice of the Customer (VOC) solutions, are “used by world-leading brands to optimize Web and mobile customer experiences through engagement,” the release said. Simply put, VOC is an industry term used as a shorthand for the in-depth process of capturing what customers want or don't want.

Through the acquisition of OpinionLab, Verint can extend its offerings to include the ability to measure and act on digital customer experiences in the moment, the release said.

“Capturing, analyzing and acting on the voice of the customer are critical for any organization in any industry,” said Elan Moriah, president of customer engagement solutions for Verint, in the release. “With the OpinionLab combination, we’re taking voice of the customer to a new level by giving organizations a complete solution for improving the customer experience across engagement channels.”

Sean Fallon, previously CEO of OpinionLab and now vice president and general manager of Opinion Lab, A Verint Company, explained the benefits to customers in the release, saying that Verint is “a market leader in customer engagement that shares a vision for the importance of listening to customers on their terms, and responding quickly and effectively on the feedback they share.

“Now, if a customer can say it, write it or click it," Fallon said, "Verint and OpinionLab voice of the customer solutions can collect, analyze and enable organizations to take action on it.”
