Medical Practice Taps Into Texting For Patients

By Jenny Callison, posted Nov 21, 2014
Wilmington Health is using texting to connect with its patients, the health care organization announced recently.

“Patients now have the option of receiving a text message the day before an appointment, which reminds the patient of the appointment time and location,” a news release stated.

“In addition, the message will also provide the ability to MapQuest directions to the location and confirm the appointment.”

Before adopting the text messaging, Wilmington Health’s system would call patients the day before appointments to remind them of their upcoming appointment. Both options are now available, and patients can choose which they prefer.

“Wilmington Health is continually improving the quality of care we provide and that includes communicating clearly and efficiently with our patients,” Jeff James, Wilmington Health’s CEO, said in the release. “We understand how busy our patients’ lives are and hope to make it a little bit easier for them by offering this service.”
