Cape Fear Academy began the new academic year with two new technology staff members, according to a news release from the school.

David Sorenson is Cape Fear Academy’s new director of technology; Gene Whipple is the school’s new systems administrator.

For the past 10 years, Sorenson was the technical support analyst for the instructional web server at Durham Technical Community College. Prior to that, he was a computer support technician at N.C. State University's library.

Sorenson’s early career, according to the release, was in media management and news photography for four different television stations in Colorado, Nevada and Tennessee.

Whipple most recently worked at Kingfisher Systems at Camp Lejeune where he was the systems administrator. Earlier in his career he worked as a field service technician, helpdesk technician, and was on Kingfisher's service request management team, the release stated.
