There is no shortage of coffee in the Wilmington area.

A one-of-a-kind roast is just around the corner no matter where one calls home. But, for those who have yet to find a favorite, an upcoming coffee crawl could help them taste-test their way to a winner.

“After the first coffee crawl approximately six years ago and its success, we wanted to bring it back, but for the entire district to participate in, not just the coffee shops,” said Tara English, one of the event’s organizers.

“A coffee crawl is a celebration of all things coffee … Participants will be able to wander at their leisure to 12 great locations – all with a variety of coffee-inspired treats. Everything from crafted coffee drinks to coffee-inspired pizza will be available.”

Compared to last year, there will be twice as many locations on this year’s crawl.

“We also have a dedicated starting location and finale location,” English said. “The participants can get their voting card and proceed to the establishments in any order they please.”

The starting point will be the Brooklyn Arts Center at 704 N. Fourth St. where voting cards can be picked up. From there, attendees can choose how to progress through the other locations, including Brooklyn Cafe, Flytrap Brewing, The Eagle's Dare, Goat & Compass, Bottega, Change the Game, Boombalatti’s, Pineapple Studios, Three10 and Don Luca before ending at Palate.

English said she has enjoyed working on the event, organizing details with the businesses and marketing it to the public. “I have been very lucky to have such an amazing group of business owners and managers to assist,” she said.

The coffee crawl is a free event, but there will be items available for purchase at each establishment. There will also be samples and demonstrations available at some of the locations. The crawl will be held on Jan. 27 from noon to 5 p.m.

Attendees will be invited to sample special offerings from a “brewery, restaurant, bottle shop, art gallery and more,” according to the event’s website. “From coffee pizza, cannolis and drunken lattes, to carefully curated cocktails and mocktails, there’s something for all coffee lovers.”

More information about the event can be found on social media pages run by the Brooklyn Arts District and Brooklyn Arts Center.
