After suffering a kitchen fire in November, Moe's Original BBQ is reopening Wednesday.

The popular Wilmington barbecue restaurant had to shut down for repairs after the incident.

“You’ve probably heard we suffered a bit of a setback with a fire to the kitchen this past Saturday,” Moe’s posted on its Facebook page Nov. 15. “We are working hard to get everything cleaned up and repaired to get back to you ASAP! We are lucky to have the best support system ever and a lot of qualified people are all over this to get us back up and running!”

Moe’s prides itself on smoked takes on pork, turkey and seafood, so missing out on Thanksgiving and Christmas was a blow to the restaurant at 5818 Oleander Drive.

“We are beyond disappointed we will not be cooking your holiday turkeys, hams, and sides,” the restaurant posted before the holidays.

Some items, such as a few fried dishes, may remain down for a short time.  Beyond the few missing items, the restaurant will be up and running Wednesday. “We are BEYOND excited to see you all again!” the restaurant wrote in a Facebook post Monday.

As for the fire and its aftermath? “Whew let’s not do that again!” the restaurant posted.
