Ledo Pizza, established in 1955 in Maryland, has opened at Rounds Golf & Lounge at Mayfaire Community Center.

The Annapolis, Maryland-based franchise has more than 100 locations in the mid-Atlantic region, and is known for its rectangular pizzas as well as sandwiches, salads and classic Italian dishes, such as lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs.

According to general manager Tyler Quinn, Round owners John Spencer and Denis Ing have entered into a franchise agreement with Ledo that allowed them to use their pre-existing kitchen and dining space.

At the time Ledo was founded, rectangular pans were more widely available than round pans and so that’s what the founders chose to use for their pizzas. When many pizzerias began using round pans, they opted to stay with their original rectangular shape, believing it gave customers more pizza for their money.

In addition to rectangular pizzas, Ledo is known for its hand-sliced pepperoni, which yields a thicker slice than you’re likely to find elsewhere.

Ledo’s sandwiches can be prepared on homemade sub rolls, or pita bread, and are stuffed with a wide variety of options from cheesesteaks to gyros, to traditional deli-meat preparations and chicken parmesan.

The menu also includes appetizers such as traditional and boneless wings, house fries with cheese and bacon, spicy toasted ravioli and fried mozzarella.

There are nearly a dozen salads on the menu, including their signature Ledo Italian Salad topped with Italian meats and cheeses, tomato and Romano herb dressing, as well as two or three homemade soups each day, with the daily selections posted on their website.

Ledo offers a dine-in special of unlimited soup, Italian salad and breadsticks for $9.99 as well as a build your own pasta option. There are a wide range of vegetarian options, and gluten-free and cauliflower pizza crusts are also available, as are zucchini noodles.

For dessert, Ledo offers brownies and a sharable cinnamon roll pizza for $6.99.

Ledo Pizza at Round’s Golf & Lounge is located at 6801 Parker Farm Dr.
