Wrightsville Beach will soon be home to Zeke’s Beans & Bowls, a Virginia Beach-based concept serving gourmet coffee as well as acai, poke and grain bowls.

Co-founders Mike Schirmer and Nick Petriccione opened their first Virginia Beach location in 2012, followed by a Norfolk, Virginia location in 2015. Now they have brought on a third partner, longtime friend Nick Cole, to open the Wrightsville Beach restaurant.

Cole moved to Wilmington about a year and a half ago and expressed his interest to Schirmer and Petriccione about bringing Zeke’s to the area. When 534 Causeway St. in Wrightsville Beach became available, the partners felt they had found a perfect location.

Cole said that Schirmer and Petriccione were pioneers in bringing acai and poke bowls to the Virginia Beach area, and although they are becoming more available in this area, he believes it’s a growing trend that customers will gravitate toward.

Cole said the Wrightsville Beach location will follow the same model and menu as the other locations, but will not serve alcohol.

Renovations are currently underway, but with several permits still pending, an estimated opening date is still unknown. Owners had originally hoped to open this month.
