Temptations Gourmet Cafe at Hanover Center, formerly Temptations Everyday Gourmet, is under new ownership.
The cafe was sold in late October to Janet and Bert Lamport of Pittsburgh. The business has been in operation since 1984 and under the ownership of James Snyder for the past 13 years.
Manager Sue Frye said the Lamports have been vacationing in the area since 1972, owning a home in Sunset Beach. While they are currently working in Pennsylvania, they plan to eventually relocate to the area.
Frye said that despite the change in ownership, very few changes have been made overall.
"The new owners have tried to make the transition as seamless as possible,” Frye said. “Our staff is the same, our menu and concept are the same, and we want to reassure our customers that things will remain very similar to what they’re accustomed to, with a few minor improvements.”
General manager and chef de cuisine, Virginia Thompson, continues to oversee the culinary team as well as manage the front of the house along with Frye, who oversees all of Temptations' custom gift basket orders and stocks the cafe with a wide variety of gourmet products and wine.
Frye said the Lamports do have some cosmetic changes planned, including new flooring to be installed in the coming months, with a grand re-opening to follow.
Snyder, who continues to operate Temptations Everyday Gourmet in the Porters Neck Center, said he will be changing that location’s name by the end of February, but he is still deciding on the new name. He is refocusing the concept at that location to that of a restaurant and bottle shop and tweaking the menu with chef Mike Comer. Recent additions include a black truffle steak burger, house roasted beef brisket and the expansion of daily chef’s specials.
Temptations Gourmet Cafe is located at 3501 Oleander Drive, Suite 13, and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Temptations Everyday Gourmet is located at 8207 Market St., Suite F, and is open from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
