Feast Down East and its partners will host the second annual Raise the Barn Farm Dinner on March 21 on the grounds of Poplar Grove Plantation. The fine dining farm-to-table event will benefit local farms and fisheries.

The event will feature a number of local chefs: Keith Rhodes of Catch, James Doss of Pembroke’s/Rx, Craig Love of Surf House, Brent Poteat of 22 North, Steve Wine of YoSake, Ryan Ojanp of 9 Bakery & Lounge, Ryan Andress  of UNCW Campus Dining, John Balderson of Plantation Village and Smokey Masters and Christi Ferretti of Pine Valley Market. The guest chefs will work with locally-grown and -raised ingredients to prepare a gourmet tapas-style dinner and dessert.

“The work that Feast Down East is doing is making it so much easier for chefs like myself to have access to local ingredients,” said Doss. “Anytime I can be involved with helping them increase awareness for their mission I’m more than happy to help.”

Doss was a 2014 recipient of Feast Down East’s Agrarian Stewardship Award.

The open bar will feature Wilmington Brewing Company beer and Tryon Distributing wines, as well as a specialty cocktail of Terry Herring Bourbon infused with Newberry’s Blueberries.

In addition to dinner, the event will include a silent auction, wagon rides and games of corn hole, and music from local band L Shape Lot. Tickets are $80 per person or two for $150. Tickets can be purchased online @ www.feastdowneast.org.
