Wake N Bake Donuts officially opens in Carolina Beach on Oct. 29. The new bakery specialist puts a creative twist on the morning pastime, coffee and donuts.

Two of its offerings are the Wake N Bacon, a maple glazed donut with bacon crumbles, and the Carolina Sand, a maple glazed donut with cinnamon and sugar.

In addition to the donuts baked fresh each morning, Wake N Bake also will serve custom hot doughnuts. Customers will be able to create their own from a variety of flavors and toppings. The doughnuts will be made on the spot and served hot.

“Customers will be able to sit at our coffee bar and watch the custom donuts being made,” owner Danny Tangredi said. “This is something that will definitely be new to this area. We’ll do a lot of traditional stuff but also some really fun flavors too.”

Tangredi said he has been planning the business idea since he was in college.

“My wife and I specifically sought out Carolina Beach for our first location," he said. "When we moved here from Maryland over a year ago, we instantly knew that Carolina Beach was where the first Wake N Bake Donuts shop should go.”

Tangredi said he hopes to open additional locations in the Wilmington area and perhaps franchise as well.

Wake N Bake Donuts is at 1401 N. Lake Blvd. in the Snow’s Cut Crossing shopping center. Hours are 6:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. every day but Tuesday.
