Developers Propose New Apartments, Office Building And Retail Space

By Cece Nunn, posted Mar 20, 2015
Apartments, an office building and a shopping center expansion are on the list of proposals to be reviewed April 2 by a City of Wilmington panel.

Plans for Annexe at the Reserve, the largest of the proposals on the latest Technical Review Committee agenda, include 144 units in four three-story buildings, along with a pool and cabana, at 315 and 323 Covil Avenue.

In September 2012, the developer, Blue Ridge Companies, paid $975,000 for more than six acres of land where the multi-family project will be located, according to New Hanover County property tax records.

Blue Ridge Companies also manages a nearby apartment community, The Reserve at Forest Hills, and that means residents at Annexe at the Reserve will have access to their neighboring apartment community’s recently renovated clubhouse and fitness center, said Jim Grdich, vice president of development for BRC.

“We think that our product will be well received,” Grdich said of Annexe at the Reserve.

Also on the TRC agenda for review are site plans for a new 3,000-square-foot office building at 3819 Park Avenue and a 5,120-square-foot retail building at 3315 Masonboro Loop Road, which would expand retail offerings at the neighborhood center Courtyard at Masonboro.

The TRC will review site plans for the three separate proposals at 8:30 a.m. April 2 on the fourth floor at 305 Chestnut St.
