A developer recently purchased a little over 3 acres in Surf City for the site of a Tractor Supply Co. store.

Surf City Development Group LLC paid $530,000 for the property at 22761 U.S. 17 in the Pender County town and started preparing the site this week for a more than 22,000-square-foot store.

The store is expected to be complete by July, said David Long of Surf City Development Group.

The group is an affiliate of Baseline Development LLC, headquartered in Southern Pines. Long's firm is a preferred developer for Tractor Supply.

"I would anticipate a store opening in mid- to late-August," he said.

The company also developed the Tractor Supply stores in Shallotte and Rocky Point.

For the Surf City transaction, Glenn Imboden and Allan Fox of Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Partners represented the sellers, J.E. and Linda Register.

Last year, Leland officials revealed that a 19,000-square-foot Tractor Supply location was coming to the growing northern Brunswick County town.

Tractor Supply offers a mix of products to care for home, land, pets and livestock with a focus on product localization, exclusive brands and customer service, according to a Tractor Supply news release.

The release announced the company's offer of a $50 incentive to employees who get a COVID-19 vaccination.

As of December, the company operated 1,923 Tractor Supply stores in 49 states as well as its e-commerce website.
