Developers said Friday that they are finished with the first phase of a new midtown Wilmington retail center that's anchored by a movie theater.

Tenants were still completing work Friday morning on the insides of some of the first-phase units at The Pointe at Barclay, under development by Wilmington-based Cameron Management and Collett, a Charlotte retail development firm.

"Future phases of The Pointe will provide additional retail services," according to a news release from Cameron Management and Collett. "Phase II is scheduled for completion in August, with tenants opening in the Fall of 2017."

The Pointe 14, a movie theater owned by Stone Theatres, premiered at The Pointe in March as part of the first phase. Two other tenants in Phase 1, Far from France and Duck Donuts, have already begun welcoming customers.

Other tenants on their way to The Pointe at Barclay's initial phase include Il Forno Pizzeria, Tavern on 17th, Zocalo Street Food & Tequila, Chops Creamery and Grand Nail Salon.

The owners of Far from France, which offers coffee and baked goods, along with French candy and other pre-packaged items from France, are pleased with customer numbers so far.

"It's like the theater. People come all day," said Alban Pelletier, who owns Far from France with Josephine Pelletier.

In two, Phase II buildings that are currently still under construction by the development team, expected tenants are Starbucks, Intracoastal Realty, Zoes Kitchen, a Which Wich sandwich shop, Orange Theory Fitness, Sport Clips and a restaurant from the owners of Nikki’s Restaurant & Sushi Bar.
