NHRMC Family Medicine Residency Program Director Receives Award

Janalynn F. Beste has received the UNC School of Medicine Department of Family Medicine’s 17th Annual Professor Peter M. Curtis Award.
 
Beste is a clinical associate professor for the UNC School of Medicine Department of Family Medicine. She serves as program director and department chair for the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program.
 
Beste was honored for her presentation “Marathon Medicine Mom” and for her contributions and leadership in family medicine during a statewide retreat. The Peter Curtis, MD Award was established in 2000 honoring senior faculty who have made a substantial contribution to the mentoring of junior faculty and to the development of the statewide department. The award is named for Dr. Peter Curtis in recognition of his lifelong contributions to the Department of Family Medicine across North Carolina.
 
Beste completed her family medicine residency and faculty development fellowship at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine. She received a doctoral degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, MN, and a bachelor’s degree from Bethel College in Arden Hills, MN.
