The Pender County Schools system has a new leader.
Members of the Pender County Board of Education named Terri Cobb as the county’s new school superintendent during a special called meeting Tuesday evening in Burgaw.
She was one of 28 applicants selected for the post vacated by former Superintendent Allison Sholar, who left the position in June to become the leader of Currituck County Schools near the greater Hampton Roads, Virginia, region.
Cobb, the former chief of staff for Wake County Public Schools, will start her new job with the district January 2, according to a news release.
