Chef Josh Petty, owner of Cast Iron Kitchen, will be featured at 9 tonight in an episode of the Food Network program Guy’s Grocery Games, hosted by chef Guy Fieri.

Petty met Fieri when he visited the Port City last January to film episodes of another of his Food Network programs, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Cast Iron Kitchen was one of several Wilmington restaurants featured in Triple D episodes that aired last spring.

Triple G, as Guy’s Grocery Games is nicknamed, features a competition between three chefs or teams that requires them to navigate Flavortown Market to shop for ingredients and prepare dishes for a panel of celebrity judges within 30 minutes, often with challenging obstacles.

The episode will feature Petty along with his father, Wayne, competing against other Triple D families in the Triple D Family Tournament. The competition will feature a total of nine teams vying for a spot in the finals and the $20,000 grand prize.

While Cast Iron Kitchen is not usually open for dinner, the restaurant will be open tonight from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring the regular menu plus a burger and a prime rib special, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.

While Petty could not be reached for comment, the restaurant is also scheduled to be open for dinner Jan. 23, the date the finals are due to air.
