Edwards assumed the position at the committee’s June meeting and has severed as a member of the committee for five years.

Edwards has served as the director of the Historic Wilmington Foundation since November 2004.

The NRAC is made up of professional historians, archeologists, architectural historians, architects and other citizens having a demonstrated interest in and expertise in historic preservation.

“As professional preservationist, it is an honor to serve North Carolina through service on the National Register Advisory Committee, and to be appointed chair for my last year on the committee is very rewarding,” Edwards said.  “The N.C. State Historic Preservation Office does a wonderful job of facilitating the committee’s work and the staff is well prepared and helpful.”
