NICHOLAS GREEN
TITLE: Clinic Administrator
ORGANIZATION: Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinics at the Coast
WHAT A NOMINATOR SAID: “Nick has helped to stand up two community-based clinics in the most underserved areas of Wilmington. He has split his team between the functions of managing a clinic and serving as liaison between the patients we serve and the resources available to them to improve health equity.
“He takes the time to help patients overcome their barriers to care, whether it be helping them complete financial applications or connecting them with services. He often spends his free time volunteering in the community he serves and inspires his team to do the same.
“He represents Novant positively and consistently at healthcare events held in town, constantly looking for opportunities to give back. He applied for and was awarded a grant in 2025 to help him fulfill the mission of providing high-quality care.
“Nick is a mentor to his employees and his colleagues, challenging them to give back at every opportunity. He’s been a friend and an inspiration.”

NC HEALTH TALENT ALLIANCE, SEAHEC REGION
WHAT THE ORGANIZATION DOES: The NC Health Talent Alliance is a partnership between the NC Center on the Workforce for Health (NCCWH), NC Chamber Foundation and Area Health Education Center (AHEC) regions aiming to address health care worker shortages in the state. The initiative focuses on understanding workforce needs and developing programs to fill gaps, according to the NCCWH’s website. The South East AHEC (SEAHEC) region covers the Wilmington area and more.
WHAT A NOMINATOR SAID: Speaking of the alliance’s SEAHEC region vice president, Dr. Steven Hill, a nominator said, “He has done something that nobody has accomplished in our area. He’s brought together both employers and educators in the region focused on health care.”
In addition to Hill, the local alliance, supported by the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and other area organizations, is also led by chair Umar Bowers, a physician with Dawson Med, and vice chair Amy Akers, vice president, chief nursing officer, Novant Health Coastal Market.

SUSANNAH SPRATT
TITLE: Mobile Market Manager
ORGANIZATION: Feast Down East
WHAT A NOMINATOR SAID: “Susannah Spratt has been instrumental in cultivating Food is Medicine initiatives throughout the Cape Fear region in her role at local nonprofit, Feast Down East. She has consistently shown up for our community in this work, best reaching patients and community members with increased healthy food access while information sharing and educating providers on how they can support their patients with food as medicine.
“In her roles as Food Rx Program Manager and Mobile Market Manager at Feast Down East, she designed, launched and has implemented the Food Rx program in partnership with Novant Health. This program has reached patients at Coastal Family Medicine, Rocky Point Urgent Care, Coastal OBGYN, Zimmer Cancer Center and Black River Health Services since October 2023.
“Spratt also partners with groups such as Healthy Families Healthy Futures and New Hanover County Cooperative Extension to bring nutrition education, cooking demonstrations and recipes to Mobile Market sites.”
