DermOne Dermatology, Cosmetic and Scarless Vein Center has received vein center accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

The recognition represents “the highest standard of excellence, and this accreditation is reserved for the most esteemed vein centers in the United States,” John Marshall, creative coordinator of the Wilmington practice, said in a news release.

The DermOne location at 6752 Rock Spring Road is the only vein center in North Carolina currently with the accreditation, according to the commission’s directory.

DermOne Dermatology Centers, a nationwide group, partnered last year with physician Kamran Goudarzi to provide scarless vein treatment.

The Mayfaire-area office is one of 27 facilities nationwide with the accredidation.

“This is the utmost honor to be accredited by the body, which holds the highest standards in evaluating vein centers in the U.S. For our Wilmington facility to have met these requirements, it is truly a tremendous distinction,” Goudarzi said in the release.

More than half of Americans age 50 and older is affected by varicose veins, officials said.

Goudarzi was one of the first doctors in the nation to receive board certification in phlebology. Since the introduction of intravascular laser ablation, Goudarzi developed his own technique, which is regarded as one of the preferred methods for the treatment of varicose veins, Marshall said.

Accreditation by the IAC means that DermOne Dermatology, Cosmetic and Scarless Vein Center voluntarily underwent a review of its operational and technical components. IAC accreditation is granted only to facilities found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process that includes a detailed review of selected patient procedures, officials said.
