Wilmington Health Offices Expand Services, Hours

By Ken Little, posted Sep 11, 2015
Wilmington Health recently announced several changes to some of its practice hours and offerings.

At the beginning of this month, Wilmington Health Pediatrics started offering same-day appointments for established patients at all four of its locations: Silver Stream, North Chase, Mayfaire in Wilmington and Brunswick Forest in Leland.

“You can schedule a same-day appointment for any reason. From sick visits and well-child checks or immunizations to annual and sports physicals, just call the pediatrics office most convenient for you, and we’ll get you in that day,” pediatrician Marc Yandle said in the news release.

Because of the change, the North Chase office will no longer take walk-ins, but the Silver Stream location will continue to offer urgent care walk-in hours for established patients from 8 a.m.-noon and 1:30-7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend walk-in hours are 8-10 a.m. Saturdays and noon-2 p.m. Sundays.

Starting Sept. 14, OB/GYN physician Sarah Gore will start seeing patients later once a week to accommodate busy daytime schedules, officials said.

Gore will see patients until 7 p.m. on Mondays at the Mayfaire location, 6781 Parker Farm Drive, Suite 200.

“With school starting again, I want to give my patients who are busy during the typical 8-5 day the opportunity to see me a little later in the day,” Gore said in a news release.

And Wilmington Health also announced that Karl Ziermann is now seeing Sports and Concussion Medicine patients at Wilmington Health at Porters Neck, 8090 Market St.

Ziermann sees patients age 10 and up with sports-related or concussion injuries.

“I’m excited to bring Sports and Concussion Medicine to Porters Neck. I look forward to working closely with patients and helping them get back to the activities that keep them healthy and engaged,” Ziermann said in a news release.

Ziermann is a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. His internal medicine residency was completed at Winthrop University Hospital where he was the chief resident and the clinical assistant instructor.

Ziermann also worked with the NCAA Division 1 football team at State University of New York at Buffalo where he completed his primary care sports medicine fellowship.
