NHRMC Physician Group Adds Glen Meade

By Vicky Janowski, posted Nov 1, 2013

Glen Meade Center for Women’s Health has joined New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s group of affiliated practices, officials announced Friday.

Glen Meade, one of the few OB/GYN practices in the Wilmington market, officially became part of the NHRMC Physician Group on Friday, according to a press release.

Glen Meade has 12 physicians and two advanced clinical practitioners working at its locations in Wilmington and Leland, officials said.

The NHRMC Physician Group, which the hospital began expanding in recent years, covers more than 150 primary and specialty health providers. This deal marks a move into OB/GYN services for the group.

The group has included gynecologic oncologists, but this will be its first inclusion of general obstetrics and gynecology health providers, said New Hanover Regional spokeswoman Carolyn Fisher.

The area’s other OB/GYN provider is Wilmington Health. Azalea Gynecology is another women’s health practice in Wilmington, but it does not include obstetrics for pregnancy and childbirth care.

Glen Meade offers gynecology, obstetrics, maternal fetal medicine, urogynecology and urinary incontinence services, according to the news release.

“We are pleased to be working with Glen Meade Center for Women’s Health on this collaboration,” New Hanover Regional president and CEO Jack Barto said the release. “Patients of Glen Meade Center for Women’s Health will continue to get the high-quality care they are used to receiving, but they will also benefit from the resources and technology that NHRMC Physician Group has to offer.”

As part of the NHRMC Physician Group, Glen Meade will have access to the larger group’s business supports such as medical office technology and contract negotiations.  They also will be tied into the same electronic medical record system for patients.

“Providers throughout the network will now be able to collaborate and share up-to-date, real time information about their patient’s medical history and current issues,” Glen Meade CEO Paul Snyder, said in a statement. “Also, once a patient is registered in the network, their information will be available to all necessary providers, which will allow for expedited check-in and registration for our patients receiving additional care at NHRMC.”
