Marsh & McLennan Acquires Senn Dunn Insurance

By Samantha Santana, posted Jun 2, 2014
Marsh & McLennan Agency, a New York-based insurance company, recently acquired Senn Dunn Insurance, the largest independent insurance agency in North Carolina, company officials announced Monday.

The deal took place Friday, officials said. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Senn Dunn Insurance, headquartered in Greensboro, has a local office at 6105 Oleander Drive, Suite 202. The firm provides property and causality insurance and employee benefit services to individuals and businesses.

Senn Dunn had five offices statewide including the Wilmington location and annual revenue of about $30 million and 155 employees, according to a press release. The acquisition will not affect the number of employees already staffed, said Sally Roberts, a spokeswoman for Marsh & McLennan (MMA).

Thomas Brown, vice chairman of MMA’s mid-Atlantic region said Senn Dunn’s community ties make it a great addition.

“Senn Dunn’s exemplary leadership, staff and reputation for being a client-focused organization with strong community ties make it an excellent addition to MMA’s mid-Atlantic region,” Brown said in the release. “Together, we will be the preeminent risk management firm in the state offering clients a vast array of property/casualty and employee benefit services.”

“We are excited to begin a new chapter with the MMA team,” Senn Dunn’s CEO T. Gray McCaskill said in the release. “This transition is an excellent opportunity to expand our reach, ensuring new opportunities for our associates and more resources for our clients.”
