Erin McNally, marketing, air service development and PR manager for Wilmington International Airport (ILM), has been awarded the distinction of accredited airport executive (AAE) by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
According to a news release, to qualify for the distinction, McNally had to successfully complete three phases of the accreditation process: No. 1, pass a 180-item multiple-choice examination; No. 2, fulfill a writing requirement; and No. 3, demonstrate, in the final interview by a panel of AAEs her knowledge of airport management, business administration and general transportation economics.
At present, fewer than 6% of AAAE’s members throughout the country are active accredited airport executives, the release stated.
"Erin’s achievement attests to her ability to meet these stringent requirements and her experience in managing a public airport. By fulfilling all the requirements leading to the title of accredited airport executive, Erin joins a select group of individuals who have earned the designation in the seven decades of the accreditation program’s existence," according to the release.
Founded in 1928, AAAE is a professional organization representing the individuals who work at public-use commercial and general aviation airports. AAAE's 10,000 plus members represent more than 850 airports as well as hundreds of companies and organizations that support the airport industry, the release stated.
