Attorney Max Ashworth has joined Wilmington-based law firm Mincey Bell Rhoades LLP, according to a news release.

He brings more than a decade of experience in trial advocacy, appellate litigation and public service to the firm's growing practice, the release stated.

"Ashworth has built a distinguished legal career representing clients in some of North Carolina's most serious and consequential matters," according to the release. "Over the course of more than 10 years serving as a public defender, he represented individuals facing criminal charges and earned a reputation as a dedicated and effective courtroom advocate.

"During that time, he tried dozens of jury cases and developed extensive experience in jury selection, witness examinations, evidentiary matters and closing arguments."

In addition to his trial work, Ashworth served as an appellate defense attorney before the North Carolina Court of Appeals, where he handled "complex" legal issues, prepared appellate briefs and presented oral arguments, the release stated.

"Max’s extensive courtroom and appellate experience, combined with his commitment to serving clients make him an outstanding addition to our firm,” stated Patrick Mincey in the release. “Max's background and skill set will further strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional representation for our clients."
