Salette Andrews

Wilmington City Councilmember Salette Andrews has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2026 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) Federal Advocacy Committee.

According to a news release, she was re-elected to a third one-year term and will "provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on sustainability, climate change, community resilience, water infrastructure, solid waste management, and more."

“Wilmington is a coastal city on the front lines of climate change, where issues like flooding, water quality and resilient infrastructure aren’t abstract: they affect our neighborhoods, our economy and our future,” Andrews stated in a release. “Serving on the National League of Cities’ Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee ensures that Wilmington’s real-world challenges and solutions help shape federal policy, while also bringing home the resources and partnerships our community needs to grow sustainably and protect what makes our city special.”

As a member of NLC’s EENR Committee, Andrews is expected to play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns and villages before Congress, with the administration and at home in Wilmington, according to the release.

The 2026 EENR Committee will be led by chair Jan Kulmann, mayor of Thornton, Colorado; vice chair Abbie Kamin, councilmember from Houston, Texas; and vice chair Elise Partin, mayor of Cayce, South Carolina, the release stated.
