Chadwick Appointed Dosher's Chief Medical Officer

Dosher Memorial Hospital official's recently announced the appointment of Dr. Mesha Chadwick as chief medical officer.

After graduating from North Brunswick High School, the Brunswick County native attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She then went onto Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica, and completed her residency program in internal medicine at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Chadwick is board-certified in internal medicine with a focus on hospital-based medicine, throughput and quality-driven health care, according to a news release. She worked as a hospitalist with Wilmington Health for almost 15 years, served as medical director and led the medical staff as president in 2020. She was then credentials chair while serving on several other committees.

Her most recent appointment was medical director for the Regional Transfer Center & Acute Care Operations, where she led efforts to decrease emergency department hold hours, according to the release. In this position, Chadwick helped reduce missed transfers by 77%, resulting in over 1,200 additional transfers of patients in need of tertiary services compared to the prior year. In addition, she acted as a physician advisor, assisting with status determinations and overturning insurance claims denials.
 
Dosher President and CEO Lynda Stanley stated in the release, “Dosher has had a long-standing relationship with Dr. Chadwick as both a hospitalist and a community partner prior to her appointment as Chief Medical Officer.  Dr. Chadwick demonstrates the knowledge, leadership, and vision to support Dosher in providing the very best care for our community.”
