A national real estate industry group recently recognized Cape Fear Realtors with a community outreach award.

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) awarded the local group during the annual Association Executive Institute, a professional development event for local and state realtor associations’ staff.

Cape Fear Realtors (CFR) earned the award for working “with their communities to make them a better place to live and do business,” a news release stated. CFR was one of six recognized for its outreach program out of a pool of 1,300 state and local realtor associations.

CFR was the only association recognized from North Carolina.

“We are in the top six percent nation-wide for awarded dollars,” CFR CEO Jerry Panz said.

Shane Johnson, CFR’s chief operating officer and in-house legal counsel, was the reason for the group’s recognition, Panz said in the release.

“His grant-writing efforts, tireless promotion of Realtor Action Day, and leadership in strengthening CFR’s advocacy efforts were noted by NAR. It is a high honor and distinction,” Panz said.

CFR was also awarded for its “national excellence” in efforts from 2015 to 2016.

CFR’s outreach program continues throughout this year, including through Realtor Action Day, which took place on April 4, with 700 area realtors participating in community service projects across the Cape Fear region.
