Southport-Oak Island Chamber Give Out Annual Business Awards

By Staff Reports, posted Aug 2, 2016
The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of its 2015-16 Small Business Awards at its annual membership meeting this summer.

The chamber’s Small Business of the Year went to Jonathon Peele and his staff at Coastline Insurance & Associate of North Carolina, according to a news release.

“The company is currently celebrating six years of providing excellent service to the residents and businesses of the community. The company provides extensive training opportunities to staff and has direct community involvement at all levels of the organization. All team members are volunteers in organizations throughout the community and are truly committed to success,” the release stated.

The chamber also granted Family Chiropractic Plus with its Customer Service Award.

“Their focus is providing holistic nutrition and chiropractic care not only to relieve existing pain, but to help each patient achieve total health and wellness. The business and staff support the community with food drives, clothing and toy drives as well as through participation in the New Hope Clinic,” the release stated.

Nominees for the awards had to have been nominated for the chamber’s Golden Pineapple Award during the 2015-16 term. The Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) at UNCW reviewed the submissions.
