Harris and Century 21 Sweyer & Associates earn awards

Lynn S. Harris, a Certified Commercial Investment Member and Realtor with Century 21 Sweyer & Associates, was recently given a National Commercial Award by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) for excellence in commercial real estate. Her recognition was announced in a news release.

“Each year NAR honors accomplished Realtors in commercial real estate by celebrating their local achievement through recognition in our National Commercial Awards,” the release stated. “Honorees have received awards from their local association, state association, community organizations or brokerages, making them eligible to be nominated by their local association for this NAR recognition.”

Harris received her award at NAR’s recent convention in New Orleans, according to the release.

In other news from Century 21 Sweyer & Associates, the agency announced that the Cartus Broker Network has named it a Platinum Award winner for the fifth year in a row, the agency announced recently in a news release. Cartus, a major global employee relocation firm, presented its awards at a conference in March.

Platinum is the highest level of the Excellence Awards presented to principal brokers and recognizes performance related to a wide variety of goals, including customer service, cost management and effective analysis and marketing of homes, according to the release. Less than 26 percent of Cartus’ principal brokers achieved Platinum level recognition for 2014 performance.

“To earn the distinction, Century 21 Sweyer & Associates has successfully executed a business plan that involves attention to customer needs, understanding of local conditions, and incorporation of best business practices,” Gerald Pearce, Cartus executive vice president, said in the release.

Green recognized for saving a life

Gloria Green (at left), a Wilkinson ERA broker, recently received an award from her agency for her “quick action and calm demeanor” in saving the life of her neighbor.

“Gloria was alerted to an emergency by the neighbor’s daughter and found the lady slumped over the wheel [of her car],” Wilkinson ERA broker in charge Fred Gainey said in an email. “She removed the lady, called 911 and with no prior training, performed hands-only CPR until paramedics arrived.”

Gainey said that when the medics arrived, the neighbor had a pulse, and was able to be treated at the hospital and released later that afternoon.

Green, a Realtor since 1998, specializes in working with military families and senior citizens on real estate transactions. She has also obtained the Certified Distressed Property Expert designation as well as the Short Sale and Foreclosure designation, according to her website. She is on the board of Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM).
