Cooper Names Two To Health Council, One To Internship Council

Gov. Roy Cooper has appointed three area residents to state entities, his office announced in a recent news release.

Pat Leonard of Carolina Beach and Stephen DeBiasi of Wilmington were named to the N.C. State Health Coordination Council as members-at-large.

Leonard, vice chancellor of student affairs at University of North Carolina Wilmington, is a voting member of the American College Personnel Association and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the release stated. She previously served on the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees.

  DeBiasi is CEO of EmergeOrtho’s Wilmington Region.  He is a member  of the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. DeBiasi is a board member and secretary of United Cerebral Palsy.

Cooper also appointed Ashley Wells of Leland as a University of North Carolina System representative to the N.C. Internship Council. Wells is the assistant dean for community engagement in the College of Health and Human Services at UNCW. She also serves the Center for Healthy Communities and the Center for Clinical Research Workforce Development in the College of Health and Human Services.
