William Powers IV has joined the General Surgery Specialists practice at the NHRMC Physician Group.

Powers, according to a news release, is fellowship-trained in surgical critical care and board-certified in general surgery. He will serve as an assistant professor of surgery in New Hanover Regional Medical Center's surgery residency program. He will also provide elective general surgery services and acute-care surgery services, including trauma, critical care and emergency general surgery.

“Dr. Powers’ experience as a resident in our program will provide invaluable insight into how we can continue to evolve and grow our educational offerings,” surgery residency program director Thomas V. Clancy said in the release.

A graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, Powers attended Eastern Virginia Medical School. He did his general surgery residency at New Hanover Regional and completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, the release stated.
